Memoriesof a good friend

Oh Dear, what terribly sad news.

I first met Posy a very long time ago when she applied for and got the post of farm secretary at Wye College Farm in Kent.
In those days anyone single living in Wye met every evening in the Wye Hill café for supper and then went on to a local hostelry for a drink. Posy fitted in well, always happy and smiling. Posy took part in a student atmosphere and many student activities. She also enjoyed following the Wye College beagles every Saturday. As I lived in rural 1000 acres heaven in Crundale and brewed cider, there were many drinks parties, and these were always attended by Posy. They led to invitations to the wonderful fancy-dress parties she held at the barn on the family farm in Sandhurst Kent. I well remember attending one with a friend fully dressed up as a bishop. On entering the pub in Sandhurst, the place went quiet. The bishop said “May I bless you all, but we are on our way to Posy’s” absolute uproar, as everyone in the pub was going to Posy’s too!!!

After Posy left Wye and went to South Africa with Ros I lost some contact. But later out of the blue I was very honoured to receive an invitation to her wedding in Exeter, but with one condition. I had to meet her father in London and get him to the train (as he had a visual impairment). He was found, we got on the train for what was the most alcoholic train ride ever taken and we got to Exeter safely.

Very happy memories of a time long ago that I still hold.

Rest in peace.
